Honberger Property Notice
A decade ago, in a long-term effort to expand our holdings, exercise control & use of neighboring properties, and to buffer the Liederkranz from its neighbors, leadership decided it would be in the best interest of the Club to purchase neighboring properties as they became available.
In 2017, the Club purchased the Barton House property, located next to the low head dam waterfall. The purchase included the bungalow residence on the east side of the creek, and a pole barn which is used for Club storage. Both structures have been rented to tenants since their purchase. Note: we do not own the low head dam, which is scheduled for removal because the State has deemed it to be unsafe.
Previously, in 2011, the Club purchased the Honberger House property; this is the large brick house located across from the Club. The contents were also acquired. The house remained occupied by the previous owner until her passing last year.
With the Honberger property now vacant, we have the opportunity to turn this into a cash flow for the Club. After exploring many options, the Officers and Trustees decided the best use of the property is to rent it as a single-family dwelling. The basement and sheds will continue to be used by the Club for storage. The mobile home on the property is also rental income for the Club.
To ready the property for rental, we first need to sell the contents of the house. This will be handled as an auction by John M. Hess Auction Service, Inc. Details of the auction will be communicated to everyone when available. After the house is empty, we will address several maintenance issues and then search for a tenant.
Any questions may be directed to President Glenn Yanos or Financial Secretary Jake Schopf.
