The Steuben Day Observation Association of Philadelphia and Vicinity

Steuben Day Observance Association Philadelphia and Vicinity is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving German-American Heritage & Pride.

The Association is comprised of dedicated volunteers from various German-American clubs in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas.  The Lancaster Liederkranz is a member of the Association.

The Association sponsors the annual German-American Steuben Parade in Philadelphia to commemorate the contributions of General Friedrich Wilhelm Von Steuben.  Von Steuben was responsible for the training of the Continental Army at Valley Forge and aided the American Colonies to win the Revolutionary War.  Steuben's Revolutionary War Drill Manual is still the basis of today's United States Military's training.

The Philadelphia Sommerfest is another of the various German-American events sponsored by the Association. Philly's Sommerfest is an annual fund raising event held in June at one of the Philadelphia area German clubs. The Association's Kornbluemen Konigin (Cornflower Queen) of Philadelphia and her Court are presented at this event. The Queen and her Court represent the Association in the Steuben Day Parades in Philadelphia and New York as well as other events and functions throughout the area and also in Germany.
